Dear all,

We are currently advertising an exciting PhD project opportunity on “Heat, Freshwater and Oxygen Budgets in the Eastern Subpolar North Atlantic: Implications for UK continental shelf and European Weather” at the National Oceanography Centre, UK.

See the link below for information and how to apply:

This PhD project investigates ocean properties, including heat and freshwater budgets, and water mass transformation, linking ocean circulation to atmospheric heat release and biogeochemical supply and evaluates their effects on the European weather. The project supervisory team is based at the National Oceanography Centre, Scottish Association for Marine Science, IFREMER – French Institute for Ocean Science and University of Southampton.

All applications to the IGNITE Doctoral Landscape Award should be submitted by Thursday 8th January 2026. Please note that international (non-UK) applicants must contact project supervisors earlier.

Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with any questions, and please share with anyone you think would be a great candidate!

Cheers,
